Gabriela Gil completed this piece between December 2017 and January 2018. While working on it, she took a break in between to do a road trip of 1,981 miles across the United States. It was an important and energizing trip during which she visited Joshua Tree, Antelope Canyon, and Horseshoe Bend; and, read "La Casa de los Espiritus" by Isabel Allende for the first time. These were impactful experiences that carried through to the finishing touches of the painting.
