Original price $1,500
2019-2020, irregular 48”x48” (121.92 x 121.92 cm), acrylic on dyed canvas
This piece is part of an exploration of caves Gabriela Gil began in 2019. It is largely inspired by Antelope Canyon in Arizona, which she visited at the beginning of 2018 as part of a road trip of 1,981 miles she did. When standing inside the canyon, you see the lines made by nature after hundreds of years of water and sand gushing through the canyon; and then when you look up there is nothing but the light that creeps in. Depending on the angle at which the light hits, the canyon walls can appear orange, red, purple, or grey. It is one of the most beautiful places in the United States.
