2016, 36” x 48” (91.44 x 121.92 cm), acrylic and metal patchwork on canvas
Gabriela Gil completed this piece after an influential trip to Mexico City in May of 2016 where she visited the former house of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, discovered natural pigments (ex: cochineal bugs used for bright magenta), and realized the importance of the Latin American culture in her identity, and consequently her art.
